Early Day News was in the Tri-county Tribune from Deer Park. Reporters in the 70s & 80s were Helen Laws, Myrl Knapp, and Jan Wold.
The Green Bluff Gazette was then written by Lisa Bassett through the Grange. It was “bulk Mailed” to those on the Mead, Colbert, and possibly Chattaroy routes, and it was paid for completely by the Grange. When the newsletter was stopped… there was a long spell of nothing.
Then Christy Smith and Lisa Balazs wrote, printed & hand delivered a newsletter called Green Bluff Community Corner to a small area on the eastern side of Green Bluff. It was sponsored by the Grange, Club Fire Dept, Church, and Friends of Green Bluff. They eventually ceased writing it.
In March of 2005, the new Green Bluff Gazette was delivered to 350 households. News articles were assembled by Helen Laws and Anne Marie Kalhar. It was typed by Anne Marie Kalhar. There were 4 organizations represented and sharing costs: The Green Bluff Methodist Church, the Green Bluff Grange, the Home Ec Club and the Green Bluff Direct Marketing Association. Each group sent in news and Online Data Processing agreed to print it at cost.
Editors of the Gazette include:
- Anne Marie Kalhar (2005 to July of 2008)
- Chris Schettle (July 2008 to December 2011)
- Brandy Donough (January 2012 to December 2014)
- Francine Mihalasky (January 2015 to present)
There’s one reporter for each organization. Starting in 2012 digital copies became available to anyone who is interested. A Facebook page was created in 2016, followed by the Green Bluff Gazette webpage in 2017. In 2017 the Gazette delivered digitally to Green Bluff residents. Anyone can print and hand out copies.
