41st Cherry Pickers Trot


The 41st Annual Cherry Pickers Trot is scheduled for Thursday, July 18th. This 4-mile historical fun run through beautiful Green Bluff Orchards is one of the highlights of the season, and main fundraiser for the Green Bluff Growers Association. Funds raised from this event promote our organization, and get the word out to the public to come visit our unique locale which is centered around sustainability, promoting farming as a whole and providing locally grown produce to the community. As is tradition, a portion of the proceeds are charitably donated to 2nd Harvest, our local food bank that helps “take a bite out of hunger” with food assistance to our community.
Late Registration for the race opens at 5pm. The PIT SPIT will begin at 5:30 at the Grange. It’s always a site to see the pits take flight! Leslie Strake holds the Women’s record at 32’9” and for the men, Mike Stephens at 49’4”. Come for the fun and enter to beat the record. It’s the pits!
The free Tot Trot for kids ages 5 and under gets underway at 6pm with the main event for all runners at 7pm. “chasing” farmer, Byron Siemers on his vintage tractor pulling along the Skunk Outhouse as a reminder of how the Cherry “TROT” got its name- for we ALL know the price one pays when you eat a lot of cherries! There will be Live Music, Food Vendors, and good ole’ country fun and entertainment for the whole family.
Walkers and strollers are encouraged to join in the race and are allowed their own slower paced start off. Parking is Free in designated areas. No dogs allowed, please. You can register online by July 16th at www.RunSignUp.com. Mail-in registration is due by July 6th.
